Beyond our Galaxy

The universe we live in is vast, possibly infinite. Our Galaxy, the Milky Way is but one of perhaps hundreds of billions other galaxies, floating through the vastness of space, each containing hundreds of billions of stars. With so many celestial bodies out there, it's no wonder that we have so many weird and wonderful phenomena in the sky. From binary systems where one of the stars is a black hole, gradually draining the other star, to enormous galaxies with super-massive black holes at the centre with jets which launch ionised matter millions of parsecs into space.
